由于有机棉染色是一个技术难度很高的项目，目前世界上能够做这个染色的企业不多，标准还未制定出来。目前只能以OTX100也就是生态纺织品标准做参考。但有几个指标必须达到：（1）有机棉的标准国际上是有的，但那是白棉的标准，也就是未染色的标准。如果染色，必须用有机染料，也就是纯天然的植物染料，并且在染色过程中，不得添加任何化学合成助剂。（2）甲醛必须未检出。（3）十种生态纺织品标准规定检测的重金属离子含量要未检出。（4）偶氮染料中已列出的24种芳香胺物质必须是“未检出”，也就是完全不含这些成分。（5）检测必须经过国际权威检测机构检测，并出具检测报告。该标准适合有机棉纱线、面料、纺织品、布制玩具、服装及服饰品。
